CHAPTER I
Introduction
1. Background
Dialectal relationship are those in which differences set off the vernacullars of local groups (for example, the language of home and familly) from those of other group within the same, broader culture. According to the American heritage dictionary of the English language, a dialect is a regional or social variety of a language distinguished by pronunciation, grammar, or vocabulary, especially a variety differing the standard literary or speech of the culture in which it exists.
In English, however I don’t think this true. I think that the English language is far too widespread and varies too much for anyone to say that the English spoken in is “standard” and everything else it dialect. Even if it were narrowed down to a single country, there is still a great deal of variation within the country, and who is to say which region, city, and province.
A variation of a given language spoken in a particular place or by particular group of people is called dialect. The other definition is a regional or social variery of language distinguished by pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Especially a variety of speech differing from a standard language or speech pattern of the culture in which is exists.
